About
Welcome to this website and allow me to introduce myself.
I am Remco Tevreden, and worked up to 2012 in different sport organizations. Like many of you, I always adored international elite athletes, and followed the big international events on television.
When the moment arrived that I needed to decide for myself what direction I wanted to take with my studies, fortunate enough I was accepted in the MBA program (in the Netherlands), with the specialization in sports.
Looking at my last 15 years working as a sports professional, I feel very grateful to have experienced sports from different angles. From the lowest organizational level, to the highest level of the Olympic Games, I can say that I’ve been there. After the Olympics of 2008, I even found myself in the international court of Arbitration, against a giant international sports organization. A case which we lost, and I even may write another book on that in the future
To make a long story short, the topic sportmanagement is one which still motivates me to go everyday do my work. Working in sports is something I am very grateful for, especially as I have influence in the development of athletes, and indirectly I try to make their DREAMS COME TRUE……isn’t that what life is about?
I want to make clear that I don’t consider myself as an authority in Sports Management. The purpose of this website is simply to provide practical information for volunteers and professionals about Management in Sports. I cannot do this by myself, so my goals with this website are the following:
- Write articles about sport management from a practical approach
- Post articles from other sports managers, around the world
- Do a monthly video-interview (webinar) with an international sports manager
- Form a mastermind group, who will analyze the sports management world on a monthly basis
2013 UPDATE: Although I am now working as the General Manager in our University, I still am active as a sports administrator, like president of a local club. I also am a guest lecturer on Social Media & Sports, in the international Sportmanagement Masters program MEMOS.
